With this new body of work, I depict vases of flowers in portrait-like compositions, placed squarely on the bottom edge of the picture plane. The subjects are rendered somewhat realistically yet reduced and flattened with minimal shading to mply the flowers’volume The vases, too, are simple flat shapes. The backgrounds are simple color, keeping the focus on the flowers and vase.
